How to choose a web developer in Abu Dhabi: a 10-point checklist
Before you pay a web developer in Abu Dhabi, check five things: live websites you can open, a fixed written price, who actually builds the site, that the domain and hosting are in your name, and that Arabic, WhatsApp and Google basics are included.
Most bad website projects in the UAE fail for the same handful of reasons, and almost all of them are visible before you pay a deposit. This is the checklist I would use if I were the one hiring.
The checklist
- Live work you can open — ask for links to real sites they built, not screenshots or a Behance board. Open them on your phone.
- A fixed written price — a scope, a total and what is not included, on one page, before any deposit.
- Who actually builds it — the person you talk to, or a subcontractor you never meet? Ask directly.
- Your name on the domain and hosting — they should be registered to you or your company, with you holding the logins.
- You can edit it afterwards — prices, photos and text, without paying for every change.
- Arabic done properly — real right-to-left layout, not a translation plugin pasted over an English design.
- WhatsApp and Google basics — a working WhatsApp button, Google Business Profile link, page titles and descriptions, and a sitemap submitted to Google.
- Speed on a phone — test any of their live sites on PageSpeed Insights; a mobile score below 50 is a warning.
- A delivery date in days — a five-page business site should take one to two weeks, not three months.
- What happens after launch — a fixed period of free fixes, and a clear price for changes after that.
Red flags
- No live links — only mock-ups or a portfolio of templates.
- The domain registered in the developer's own name.
- A monthly 'maintenance' fee that is many times the real hosting cost.
- No written scope, or a price that changes after the deposit.
- Promises of a first-page Google ranking by a date — nobody can guarantee that.
What a fair price looks like
For a five-page small-business site in the UAE in 2026, AED 2,500 to 5,000 with a senior freelancer is a fair range, and one to two weeks is a fair timeline. The full breakdown by tier is at abdullah-haroon.com/blog/website-cost-uae-2026/. My own fixed-price option is the WordPress Starter at AED 2,500 with 7-day delivery.

FAQ
Questions this answers
How do I find a good web developer in Abu Dhabi?
Ask for live sites you can open on your phone, a fixed written price, and confirmation of who builds the site. Make sure the domain and hosting are registered in your name and that you can edit the site yourself afterwards.
How long should a small business website take?
One to two weeks for a five-page business site. Longer timelines usually mean coordination overhead or unclear scope rather than more work.
Should the domain be in my name?
Yes. The domain and hosting should be registered to you or your company, with you holding the logins, so you can move developers at any time.
What is a fair price for a website in Abu Dhabi?
AED 2,500 to 5,000 for a five-page small-business site with a senior freelancer in 2026. Agencies typically charge AED 8,000 to 15,000 for similar scope.
