Ethiopian Restaurant
Overview
A restaurant sells the plate before the customer tastes it. This shoot covered the full menu as it is actually served — the mesob basket, combination platters, tibs, minced beef with injera, wraps and sandwiches — so the same set of pictures could carry the printed menu, the delivery apps and Instagram.
On the day
Every dish was shot straight from the kitchen, overhead and at table height, in the restaurant's own dining room. The room is busy and the light is mixed, so the priority on the day was the food itself: clean plates, true colour, sharp texture on the injera and the sauces.
Retouch
The dishes are untouched — same food, same portion, same plates. In post the busy surroundings were replaced with a small family of table sets (dark slate, walnut and linen) and the light evened out, so the whole menu reads as one consistent catalogue instead of thirty different photos.
