Bakery & Cakes
Overview
A custom-cake bakery sells from its photo gallery. Most of these cakes were photographed minutes before collection, on a steel counter next to mixing bowls — the cake was perfect, the picture was not. The job was to turn a run of real orders into a catalogue the bakery could post, print and send to new customers.
Retouch, not redesign
Every cake is left exactly as it was made — tiers, sugar flowers, piping and lettering untouched. Only the background and light change: a warm plaster-and-marble set for celebration cakes, blush pink for children's and baby cakes, and a darker marble set for chocolate work.
What was left out
Cakes built around cartoon characters or fashion-brand logos were left out of the public set — they are the customer's design, but not the bakery's to advertise.
